Keeping The Door Open with Saly Fayez

Today’s discussion couldn’t have come at a better time. When the national conversation is turning to the importance of having health and social workers playing a larger, more productive part in policing, Kathy welcomes her friend Saly Fayez.

Saly is the Director of Victim Services for Fairfax County Police Department in VA. Her team is embedded with the police and responds to calls ranging from sexual assault, domestic violence, robbery and even homicide.

Kathy and Saly have an enlightening and frank conversation about her experience helping children and families. They talk about the importance of listening rather than “fixing”, the best way to connect with kids, how to keep kids safe online, how to talk with your children about abuse and control in dating relationships, and most importantly how to start conversations early with your kids, even when they are difficult. Because keeping that door open, will allow them to come to you and not someone else.
